The Chase Sapphire Preferred card is a great basic travel card. It comes along with a great suit of various travel insurances. Plus your points are worth 25% more when redeemed through the Chase Travel portal.

Card-Smart Tips & Advice
  • Good credit needed (you will probably need at least one credit card open for more than a year)
  • This card is under the  Chase 5/24 rule
  • If you had received an opening bonus on any Sapphire credit card in the past 48 months you are not eligible to receive a new bonus
  • You can only get approved for up to 2 Chase Credit Cards in 30 days. (Business Card and Personal cards are counted separately)
  • If you currently have any Sapphire card open Chase will probably not approve you for a new one
  • Chase Bank will usually pull your Experian credit report

Rental Insurance: The rental insurance does not cover expensive and exotic cars.  Offers additional car rental insurance coverage with up to $75,000 reimbursement for theft or collision.
Roadside Assistance: Offers roadside assistance, but charges $59.95 per service call. Offers 4 free roadside service calls valued up to $50 each per year.
Purchase Protection: Offers up to $50,000 in claims per year. Up to $500 per claim. Offers up to $50,000 in claims per year. Up to $10,000 per claim.
Travel Protection: Protection which covers lost or delayed luggage and trip cancellations is slightly enhanced on the Sapphire Reserve.
  Lounge Access: N/A Access to 1,000+ airport lounges, with a complimentary membership to Priority Pass.
